Voltaire by Houdon

Since I haven’t talked about art in a while, I wanted to post this.

Jean-Antoine Houdon, Voltaire Seated, 1778-80. It’s a Neoclassical piece, and I think it’s a beautiful sculpture. Houdon was renowned for his portraiture and this was made right before the philosopher’s death. I could say more, but just look. It’s pretty.

Also, be grateful. I almost posted some of Gericault’s more macabre paintings, but decided to think on it more before disturbing anybody.
