Itasca

Today I walked across the Mississippi river with my own two feet.

It was about 15 feet across.

We had planned to go to Itasca State Park today, which is only a few hours from Fargo, but we woke up and it was raining. I was disappointed, but Momma said that it might clear up and we’d be able to go in the afternoon, which is exactly what ended up happening.

It turns out that Itasca Lake is where the headwaters of the Mississippi River flows out of. It was a beautiful park and it was really too bad we were only there for a few hours because there was so much to do and see.

After seeing the headwaters, Kyle and I rented a peddle boat and peddled around Itasca Lake while Momma and Daddy walked around (“hiking”, or more accurately scouting out campsites). It turns out that peddling those things takes more out of you then I thought–I’m exhausted. But there was also a nice beach, you could rent all sorts of larger boats, and you could fish. The man at the desk said they had just about everything but trout in the lake, and I thought it sounded delicious. We’re talking about going back and camping with my parents sometime to explore more of the park (and to fish).
