In Which Amy Intimidates People

Today I introduced Amy to a couple that I know. It was in an apartment with fairly low ceilings and that, when populated with four adults and two children seemed quite smallish. Amy happened to be sitting down when they were introduced, and when she stood up, all of her six foot glory suddenly seemed quite tall in comparison to the suddenly small room.

As she stood up, the husband took a few steps back, stood behind his wife, and said “Wow, Eliza. You’re sister is quite tall.”

When we left, Amy said, “I think I know why sometimes people are intimidated by me when they first meet me.”

“Yeah, you weren’t even being intimidating at the moment. You were being quite nice.”

We chuckled over it for a while.

Go tall girls.
