My Complaining Buddy

I eat lunch with my lovely friend on Mondays and Wednesdays. We take turns complaining to each other about things that are going wrong in our lives, and occasionally spice it up with happy things.

For some reason it’s really nice to have somebody to complain to. She’s not involved with any of the things that I complain about and I’m not involved in any of the things she complains about. We’re safe people to talk to about what is going on in each other’s lives. We can explain and complain, but nobody’s feelings get hurt, and it’s a safe place to express frustrations about things that are tough at the moment.

In reality we don’t always complain to each other. It’s just been a rough couple of weeks with midterms and other factors. I always leave feeling refreshed and validated. I hope she feels the same way.

Thinking about this has made me wonder if other people have complaining buddies, too. Do you have somebody that you complain to? Is it a positive experience for you, as well?

  1. I have different circles of friends to whom I complain about different topics. Although, as one of my friends tells me, I’m disgustingly fair when I complain so I don’t know how good I am/want to believe I am at it >.>
