Watch your medical bills, and know how much insurance is supposed to cover. I went to one prenatal appointment while still on BYU’s health insurance, and I got the bill recently. They had processed it wrong and I was being charged twice what I should have been charged. Because I was aware of what insurance should have paid and followed up, I’m getting the bill reprocessed and paying a much more reasonable amount.
Also, write down who you talk to when you make those calls, when you talked to them, and what they told you. That way if there’s any more problems you can pin the problems onto a specific employee and date.
The other positive thing is that despite having to move through the bureaucracy of insurance, it only required two relatively short phone calls. Thank heavens. If only sorting out billing problems were always that simple.
