Sleep Update

So, an update on the trauma that was sleep training Ruby last week:

It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made it my life. Like, up there with marrying Kyle and attending BYU.

Yes, it was hard to listen to her cry for two hours that one night. Yes, it was hard to listen to her cry to sleep all the other nights and naps. But you know what? Now she goes to sleep, on her own, like a boss. And I get the hours between 7 and 10 pm to myself with absolutely NO WORRIES that she will wake up and need me. Because if she wakes up, you know what I get to do? Keep on keepin’ on with my stuff because she falls back asleep on her own.

Oh, yeah. Freedom, thy name is babies-who-can-fall-asleep-on-their-own. Thy name is also somewhat convoluted. But still precious.

Ooooh, yeah.

  1. YES!!! I am so happy for you! It is so hard to be a parent, but once you get over that initial feeling of being afraid to be tougher than they are, you’ve crossed the threshold and will not look back. It finally worked with Erin. We just had to outlast her. Poor kid, all she hears about is what a rotten baby she was. She certainly made up for it the rest of her life by being a very pleasant human being.
